- Articles & Noun Gender
- Identify masculine, feminine, and neuter nouns.
- Use definite articles (der, die, das, die) and indefinite articles (ein, eine, ein).
- Form plural nouns.
- The Four Cases
- Nominativ for subjects.
- Akkusativ for direct objects and after durch, für, gegen, ohne, um.
- Dativ for indirect objects and after mit, nach, seit, von, zu, bei, aus.
- Personal Pronouns
- ich, du, er, sie, es, wir, ihr, sie, Sie
- Use them in Nominativ and Akkusativ.
- Verb Conjugation
- Regular verbs in Präsens.
- Common irregular verbs: sein, haben, werden.
- Modal verbs: können, müssen, dürfen, sollen, wollen, mögen.
- Separable Verbs
- Recognize common prefixes: an-, auf-, aus-, ein-, mit-, zu-.
- Place the prefix at the end of main clauses.
- Keep the verb together in subordinate clauses and with modal verbs.
- Questions
- Yes/no questions: verb first.
- W-questions: question word + verb.
- Negation
- Use nicht for verbs, adjectives, and whole clauses.
- Use kein for nouns without articles.
- Word Order
- Verb in position 2 in main clauses.
- Time-manner-place order for adverbs.
- Numbers, Dates & Time
- Count to 100+.
- Tell the time and date.
